Sir David Martin Foundation is a charitable Trust. The Foundation is run by a small team of staff that is overseen by a Board of Governors. The Trustee for the Foundation is Mission Australia.

Her Excellency The Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC

Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC is the 39th Governor of New South Wales, commencing her five year tenure on 2 May 2019.

Prior to her appointment as Governor, Her Excellency enjoyed a long and distinguished law career spanning 43 years, during which time she served as a role model for women in law at both the State and national level.

Her Excellency brings her deep commitment to education, youth leadership, human rights and social justice to the role in service of the people of New South Wales.

Captain William Martin RAN (Rtd), Board Chair

Sir David and Lady Martin’s son, Captain Martin RAN (Rtd) joined the Sir David Martin Foundation Board in 2015 and has been Chair since December 2020. Will’s career started at the Royal Australian Naval College in 1982 and his final role was Commanding Officer HMAS WATSON. Will is a professional speaker, certified Organisational and Team Coach, and the Director of Waterline Leadership.

Lady Suzanne Martin OAM, Founder

Sir David’s wife, Lady (Suzanne) Martin, has been on the Sir David Martin Foundation Board since its inception in 1990. She continues to represent the Foundation at philanthropic events and presents the graduation certificates at the Triple Care Farm Annual Graduation Day. Lady Martin is the Foundation’s First Lady.

Anna Beaumont

Anna Beaumont, the daughter of Sir David and Lady Martin, has always been an integral part of the Foundation. Starting as a Fundraising Coordinator in 2011 and later excelling in the role of Philanthropy Manager until her retirement in 2023, Anna forged deep connections with donors, staff, and the young beneficiaries of our programs throughout her 12-year tenure. Now, as a member of the Board, Anna is thrilled to continue championing her father’s vision and to stay connected with our community.

Annalie Davies

Annalie Davies is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ Sydney office and a member of the Financial Services Practice. She has more than 20 years of experience in
Australia and the UK, working with senior industry professionals across banking, funds and wealth management, insurance, superannuation, and professional services.

Anthony Cheshire SC

Anthony was called to the English Bar in 1992 and practised at the bar in London before moving to the New South Wales Bar in 2004. He practices from the 8th Floor of Wentworth Chambers in a broad range of areas, but with a particular focus upon general commercial, corporations, insolvency, equity, probate, charities, associations, inquiries, property, licensing, insurance and professional negligence. He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2015.

Peter Evans

Peter joined the Sir David Martin Foundation Board in 2021. He joined Ramsay Health Care in 1969 and served as a Non-Executive Director for 24 years before being appointed Deputy Chairman in 2014. Peter is a Chartered Accountant and, prior to joining Ramsay Health Care, was in public practice for over 20 years with the predecessor firms of KPMG. Peter is a Founding Board member of the Paul Ramsay Foundation.

Jason Millett

Jason Millett joined the Sir David Martin Foundation Board in 2018. He has extensive executive experience across Banking and Financial Services, Retail, Consulting, and the military. He mentors young executives in early-stage businesses and is an active surf life saver.

Paul Hennessy

Paul joined the Sir David Martin Board in 2020. He is Australian Sales Leader at Mercer and has over 35 years of investment industry experience. Prior to joining Mercer, his previous roles included Managing Director, Australia/New Zealand at Capital Group and head of Australian and New Zealand distribution for Macquarie Bank’s fund management division.

Saskia Lo

Saskia Lo brings strengths in strategic marketing and business development, cultivated over a 25-year career, most recently as Strategic Director at The Zoo Republic. Saskia recently played a pivotal role in Sir David Martin Foundation’s inaugural crowdfunding event.

Andrew Sharpe

Andrew joined the Sir David Martin Foundation Board in 2013. He has extensive experience in acting in major commercial disputes for leading Australian and international insurers, brokers, corporates and professionals.
